Making good things better has enabled us to grow prosperously by bucking a nationwide trend toward decreasing
consumption of dairy products. We haven't reversed the trend, but
we've been successful in spite of it.
As the consumer demanded more choices, we provided more choices.
When research indicated consumers preferred products low in fat,
we responded with a successful series of "light" products,
including 2%, 1%, Skim and Calci-Skim Milk, Light Sour Cream, Fat
Free Cottage Cheese, Lowfat and Fat Free Yogurt, Desserts
and Light Ice Creams.
We owe our present success to positive thinking, constructive action,
and inspiration drawn from our founders, who, in 1935,
overcame all obstacles to make a dream come true. That dream
became a reality that today affects the lives and livelihoods of
thousands of people.
We won't forget the lessons of the past, but we must see to the
needs of the future. As we look toward the future, we will continue
to meet consumer demands, to work hard, to be the leader. We will
expand into the new century with the same determination and dedication
to quality that makes us successful today.
